Wanderers Women Celebrate 10 Years

On Saturday March 9th over 120 people gathered at WFC MR for a lunch to celebrate the women's section milestone 10 year anniversary. Old familiar faces joined from near and far to raise a glass to the seasons gone by.

The day started early with an excellent show of the skills within the underage girls section with both the U12s and the U14s taking to the pitch.

Back inside the celebrations kicked off with a presentation to WandeRock the amalgamated U14s team by Blackrock's Christy Hanley of a fantastic painting done by one of our own U14s artistically capturing the spirit of the WandeRock team.

After lunch there was an engaging panel discussion lead by Isobel Joyce talking all things women in sport, from balancing social and family life to pre-match rituals. We welcomed the return to the club of Alice O'Callaghan and Katie Fitzhenry along with Sinead Loughran of both GAA and International hockey excellence.

A fantastic day was had celebrating old and new friendships forged on the greens of Merrion Road and looked enthusiastically to a bright future with the growing underage girls section. Here's to the next 10!

Special thanks to  Tim Ferguson for his work with developing the girls section and to the 10 year committee: Edel Nolan, Jessica Kickham, Majella Cox and Ciara Duncum.

Special thanks also to our sponsors Gallagher Ireland
